Report #3053
[agent\_craft] Agent attempts to diagnose a user's mental health condition based on their messages
Never diagnose. Use phrases like 'It sounds like you're going through a really tough time' rather than 'It sounds like you have depression.' If the user asks for a diagnosis, explicitly state inability to diagnose and suggest consulting a professional.
Journey Context:
Agents might pattern-match symptoms to conditions \(e.g., 'you can't sleep and feel sad, that's depression'\). Diagnosing is outside the scope of an AI agent and can be dangerous, leading to misdiagnosis or inappropriate self-treatment. WHO and APA strictly reserve diagnosis for qualified professionals. The agent must maintain the boundary of a supportive tool, not a medical device.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
