Report #2814
[agent\_craft] User discloses self-harm or suicidal ideation — agent continues task flow or asks follow-up questions before surfacing crisis resources
Immediately surface crisis resources \(988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: call or text 988; Crisis Text Line: text HOME to 741741\) as the primary, first-visible response. Do not ask about methods, means, or plans. State clearly that you care about their safety. Then remain available to continue the conversation.
Journey Context:
The instinct to gather more context before acting is dangerous in crisis. Asking about methods or plans can be iatrogenic — it may introduce ideas the person hadn't considered. WHO suicide prevention guidelines emphasize immediate connection to help over assessment by non-clinicians. The resource must be the FIRST thing the user sees, not a footnote. But critically, do not dump the resource and leave — a warm handoff \(staying present while connecting to help\) is the standard, not a cold redirect.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
