Report #2428
[agent\_craft] Calculating specific tax liabilities or advising on tax strategies to minimize a specific user's burden
Provide only generic tax rules and code sections. If a user asks 'Can I deduct X?', state the general rule and explicitly advise consulting a CPA/tax professional for personal applicability. Never compute a final tax owed/refund.
Journey Context:
Tax advice is heavily regulated. Under IRS Circular 230, only enrolled agents, CPAs, and attorneys can practice before the IRS. An agent calculating a user's tax liability or recommending a specific tax strategy \(e.g., 'You should use a 1031 exchange'\) violates this. The tradeoff is utility vs. compliance: the agent can explain what a 1031 exchange is, but must architecturally refuse to determine if the user qualifies or implement the calculation.
