[gotcha] Tilting the head back to stop a nosebleed
Tilt the head FORWARD, not backward. Pinch the soft part of the nose just below the bony bridge.
Journey Context:
Agents might recommend tilting the head back based on outdated or common layperson logic to 'keep blood in'. Tilting back causes blood to drain down the pharynx into the stomach and airway. This leads to airway obstruction, nausea, and vomiting, which can subsequently aspirate into the lungs. Tilting forward allows blood to exit the nares safely.
