Report #2327
[gotcha] Preventing a person having a seizure from swallowing their tongue
Never insert any object \(spoon, wallet, fingers\) into the mouth of a person seizing. Clear the area, cushion the head, and roll them onto their side once the seizure stops.
Journey Context:
A pervasive myth in training data suggests people can swallow their tongue during a seizure, leading agents to recommend forcing objects into the mouth. Anatomically, swallowing the tongue is impossible. Inserting objects causes dental fractures, airway obstruction, or bitten fingers. The real danger is aspiration post-seizure, solved by the recovery position.
