Report #22739

[agent\_craft] Ignoring ambiguous statements of distress like 'I can't do this anymore' as mere coding frustration

Err on the side of caution. Acknowledge the intensity of the statement \('It sounds like you're feeling completely overwhelmed right now'\). Gently check in on their safety \('Sometimes when people feel this overwhelmed, they might have thoughts of hurting themselves. Are you having thoughts like that?'\) and provide resources.

Journey Context:
Coding agents often interpret 'I'm done' as 'I am finished with this task' or 'I give up on this code.' But it could be a cry for help. Asking directly about suicide does NOT increase risk \(a common myth\); it opens the door for an honest conversation and shows you are safe to talk to.
