[counterintuitive] Prompt engineering is a temporary hack

Treat prompt engineering as a core systems engineering discipline. Design modular, version-controlled prompt architectures with clear separation of instructions, context, and tool definitions.

Journey Context:
Many software engineers view prompting as 'just talking to the AI' and expect models to eventually become smart enough to not need careful prompts. But prompt engineering is essentially API design for non-deterministic systems. As models get smarter, they also become more capable of misinterpreting ambiguous instructions. The need for precise specification grows, it doesn't shrink.
