Report #22259
[agent\_craft] Using 'it' or 'this' in a way that ambiguously refers to multiple preceding nouns
Replace ambiguous pronouns with the specific noun. If you write 'The router passed the packet to the firewall, but it dropped it,' rewrite as 'The firewall dropped the packet.'
Journey Context:
Agents construct long, complex sentences where 'it' or 'this' might refer to the subject, object, or the entire preceding clause. This forces the reader to stop and parse the grammar, breaking flow. Strunk & White explicitly warns against indefinite pronoun use; technical writing demands zero ambiguity.
