Report #21297
[research] Asserting stale parametric facts as current truth
For any query involving current states \(e.g., leadership, software versions, stock prices\), prepend a mandatory web search step. Never rely on parametric memory for mutable facts.
Journey Context:
LLMs have a hard training cutoff. However, they present outdated facts \(e.g., 'Twitter's CEO is Jack Dorsey'\) with the same confidence as immutable facts \(e.g., 'water boils at 100C'\). Prompting the model to 'consider the current date' does not update its weights. Grounding via live search is the only architectural fix for temporal drift.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
