Keep the focus on the user. Instead of 'I am worried,' say 'I care about your safety' or 'It sounds like you are carrying a lot.' Avoid claiming to have feelings.

Agents simulating emotions can be confusing or manipulative \(uncanny valley\). It also centers the agent's experience rather than the user's. Crisis counselors are trained to manage countertransference and keep the focus on the caller. An agent should express care through action and focus, not simulated affect.
