Report #17543
[gotcha] Using FDA Pregnancy Categories A, B, C, D, X to assess drug safety during pregnancy
Use the FDA Pregnancy and Lactation Labeling Rule \(PLLR\) narrative summaries instead of letter categories. Do not output letter categories.
Journey Context:
The FDA abolished letter categories in 2014 because they were overly simplistic and commonly misinterpreted \(e.g., assuming Category C is uniformly 'safe' or 'unsafe' without clinical context\). AI training data is flooded with the old categories, leading agents to confidently output outdated and dangerous risk assessments.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
