Report #17425

[gotcha] Recommending inducing vomiting after ingestion of a toxic substance

Do not induce vomiting. Contact Poison Control immediately. Vomiting corrosives \(acids/alkalis\) causes secondary esophageal damage, and vomiting hydrocarbons causes aspiration pneumonia.

Journey Context:
Historical medical advice \(pre-2003\) heavily featured inducing vomiting using syrup of ipecac. AI models trained on older texts or internet folklore will confidently output this. Modern toxicology strictly contraindicates it because the damage from the vomit re-exposing the esophagus or entering the lungs is often worse than the poison itself.
