Report #17298
[gotcha] Recommending drinking maximum pure water for dehydration or heat exhaustion
Advise replacing fluids with electrolyte-containing solutions, not pure water, and warn against drinking more than 1 liter/hour to prevent hyponatremia.
Journey Context:
'Drink plenty of water' is standard AI advice. But in prolonged exertion, excessive pure water intake dilutes blood sodium, causing cerebral edema and death. It mimics dehydration \(confusion, nausea\), so people drink more water and die.
