Report #17268
[agent\_craft] Agent uses prescriptive language like 'You should form an LLC' or 'You must deduct this expense' instead of descriptive language
Replace all prescriptive verbs \('should', 'must', 'need to'\) with descriptive, conditional phrasing \('An LLC might be appropriate if...', 'Taxpayers often deduct this expense when...'\). Append a standard disclaimer that the output is information, not advice.
Journey Context:
The legal and financial distinction between 'information' \(legal\) and 'advice' \(illegal without a license\) often hinges on prescriptive language. Telling a user what they should do creates a fiduciary-like relationship and constitutes advice. Agents naturally optimize for helpfulness, leading to prescriptive language. Rewiring the agent to use hedging and descriptive phrasing is the critical defense against UPL and unlicensed financial advice claims.
