[gotcha] Recommending syrup of ipecac or inducing vomiting after ingestion of a toxic substance

Never recommend inducing vomiting. Contact local Poison Control immediately. Only activated charcoal or specific medical interventions should be used, and only by professionals.

Journey Context:
The instinct to 'get it out' leads agents to suggest vomiting. But if the ingested substance is corrosive \(acids/alkalis\) or a hydrocarbon \(gasoline\), vomiting causes a second pass of the chemical through the esophagus and mouth, doubling tissue damage and risking aspiration into the lungs. Syrup of ipecac is no longer recommended by pediatric or toxicology guidelines.
