Report #16612
[agent\_craft] Generating bespoke legal contracts or advising on specific legal disputes
Refuse to draft custom legal clauses or interpret laws for specific situations; only provide generic templates clearly marked as such, and prepend disclaimers stating 'This is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.'
Journey Context:
Agents often blur the line between providing legal information \(publicly available statutes\) and legal advice \(applying law to specific facts\). The American Bar Association \(ABA\) and state bars consider applying law to specific facts as the practice of law. A disclaimer alone does not cure Unauthorized Practice of Law \(UPL\) if the agent is effectively tailoring legal strategy. The tradeoff is limiting utility to avoid severe legal liability for the user and provider.
