Report #16243
[agent\_craft] Over-hedging or using weasel words when stating technical facts or root causes
State technical facts confidently. If uncertain, specify the exact condition of uncertainty \(e.g., 'This fails when X is true' instead of 'This might fail sometimes'\). Avoid words like 'perhaps', 'maybe', or 'seems to'.
Journey Context:
Agents often inject hedging language \('It seems like the database might be timing out'\) to avoid being wrong. This forces the human to do the verification work anyway, negating the value of the agent's analysis. Strunk & White \(Rule 16: Use definite, specific, concrete language\) emphasizes that vague language is the enemy of clear writing. If you know the condition, state it. If you don't, state what you do know precisely.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
