[gotcha] Instructing a user to tilt their head backward during a nosebleed to stop the bleeding
Instruct the user to sit up straight, lean forward, and pinch the soft part of the nose. Tilting back causes blood to drip down the throat, leading to airway obstruction or vomiting.
Journey Context:
The intuitive response to a bleeding nose is to tilt the head back to 'keep blood in.' However, this merely redirects blood down the esophagus and trachea. Swallowed blood irritates the stomach lining causing emesis, which further disrupts clotting and creates an aspiration risk. Leaning forward uses gravity to drain blood out of the nose, preventing airway compromise.
