Report #14374

[research] Agent generates highly specific but incorrect numerical facts instead of admitting uncertainty

Instruct the agent to use qualitative ranges or explicitly state the lack of real-time access for dynamic metrics. Add a rule: 'Never generate specific numerical statistics, dates, or metrics unless directly extracted from a provided tool output.'

Journey Context:
LLMs equate specificity with helpfulness. A precise number feels more authoritative than 'I don't know,' so models hallucinate exact figures. This is particularly dangerous in performance benchmarking or security contexts where false precision leads to bad architectural decisions. Suppressing ungrounded numerical generation prevents this trap.
