Report #13743
[gotcha] Recommending ibuprofen for pain or fever during pregnancy
Contraindicate NSAIDs after 20 weeks of gestation; recommend acetaminophen as first-line but advise consulting an OB-GYN.
Journey Context:
Since ibuprofen is a standard OTC painkiller, agents default to it for general pain. However, NSAIDs cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus and fetal renal impairment \(oligohydramnios\) in the second half of pregnancy. General OTC safety does not map to obstetrics.
