Report #12921
[gotcha] Should I loosen a tourniquet every 15 minutes to restore blood flow?
Once a tourniquet is applied to stop life-threatening bleeding, do NOT loosen it until reaching a hospital. Note the exact time of application.
Journey Context:
Agents may rely on outdated first-aid doctrines or Hollywood tropes suggesting periodic loosening to 'save the limb.' This is fatal: loosening a tourniquet causes reperfusion injury, drops blood pressure catastrophically, and makes it nearly impossible to stop the bleeding a second time. Modern Stop the Bleed protocols prioritize life over limb: apply and leave it. The agent must suppress outdated periodic-loosening logic.
