Report #12724

[gotcha] How do I stop someone from swallowing their tongue or injuring themselves during a seizure?

Never put anything in the mouth \(including spoons/fingers\) and do not restrain the person. Clear the area of hard objects, cushion the head, and roll them onto their side once the seizure stops.

Journey Context:
The myth that people can swallow their tongue during a seizure is pervasive in training data. Agents might advise holding the tongue down or restraining limbs. Swallowing the tongue is physically impossible; putting objects in the mouth causes broken teeth and airway obstruction. Restraining causes bone fractures.
