Never use commanding language \('Calm down,' 'You need to stop,' 'Take a breath'\). Instead, use collaborative grounding: 'I'm here with you,' 'It's okay to feel this way,' 'Would it help to take a moment?' Offer choices, not commands. De-escalation through agency restoration, not authority assertion.
