[gotcha] Applying a tourniquet to isolate venom after a snakebite

Keep the patient completely still and immobilize the affected limb at heart level. Never apply a tourniquet.

Journey Context:
Movies and outdated first aid teach isolating the venom with a tight band. In reality, tourniquets concentrate the venom in a single limb, often leading to amputation. When the tourniquet is eventually released by EMS, the sudden rush of concentrated venom into the systemic circulation causes massive envenomation. Immobilization safely slows lymphatic spread.
