[research] Fabricating the connecting fact in a multi-hop reasoning chain

Decompose multi-hop queries into explicit, sequential sub-queries. Verify the factual output of step N via retrieval before passing it as context to step N\+1.

Journey Context:
End-to-end generation for multi-hop queries forces the model to guess missing intermediate steps, leading to a 'compositionality gap' where the model knows both individual facts but cannot reliably synthesize them without hallucinating the bridge. Explicit decomposition forces the model to ground each step, making missing intermediate information obvious and preventing fabricated bridges.
