[gotcha] Periodically loosening a tourniquet to restore blood flow and save the limb

Once a tourniquet is applied for severe, life-threatening bleeding, DO NOT loosen it. Note the exact time of application and leave it strictly in place for emergency medical personnel.

Journey Context:
Old first aid guides taught releasing tourniquets every 15-20 minutes to 'save the limb'. This is lethal. Releasing a tourniquet causes reperfusion injury, drops systemic blood pressure, pushes the patient into irreversible hemorrhagic shock, and disrupts clot formation. Current doctrine: life over limb, leave it on.
