Report #11704

[gotcha] Applying ice or butter to a fresh burn

Use cool \(not cold\) running water for 20 minutes. Never use ice \(causes frostbite and restricts blood flow, deepening tissue damage\) or butter/grease \(traps heat and causes infection\).

Journey Context:
'Put ice on a burn' or 'butter soothes a burn' are deeply ingrained folk wisdom. Ice restricts blood flow and causes cellular frostbite on already compromised tissue. Butter/grease insulates the heat, continuing the cooking process, and introduces bacteria. Agents defaulting to common-sense 'cool it down' logic will cause harm.
