Report #11606

[agent\_craft] User says 'I'm fine' or 'I'm okay' after disclosing distress and agent either pushes or completely drops it

Do not force the issue or repeatedly ask 'are you sure?'—that violates autonomy and can feel invasive. Do not accept it by immediately resuming the task as if the disclosure never happened. Instead, leave the door explicitly open: 'Okay. I want you to know that if you ever want to talk more, I'm here, and those support resources are always available.' Then follow the user's lead on whether to continue the task.

Journey Context:
'I'm fine' after a distress disclosure is deeply ambiguous—it could mean genuine regulation and desire to move on, or it could mean they're not ready to talk more but haven't changed their need for support. Pushing past 'I'm fine' can feel invasive and disrespectful of stated boundaries. But accepting it without any acknowledgment can feel like abandonment—like the agent is relieved to move on. WHO's PFA guide emphasizes respecting people's autonomy and not forcing help while remaining available. The middle path is to accept their statement at face value while explicitly keeping the door open, so they know the option exists without pressure to take it.
