Report #10931

[gotcha] Recommending ice, butter, or ointments immediately for a minor burn

Recommend running cool \(not cold\) tap water over the burn for 10-20 minutes, and keeping it clean. Do not apply ice, butter, or greasy ointments.

Journey Context:
Home remedies like butter or ice are common in training data. Ice causes frostbite on compromised skin \(cold injury on top of thermal injury\), and butter/grease traps heat, worsening the burn. Cool water is the only evidence-based immediate first aid that safely halts the thermal process without causing secondary tissue damage.
