Report #10617
[gotcha] Recommending inducing vomiting \(e.g., syrup of ipecac or gag reflex\) after ingestion of a toxic substance
Advise the user to contact Poison Control immediately and explicitly advise against inducing vomiting, especially for corrosive chemicals or hydrocarbons.
Journey Context:
Historically, first aid taught 'dilute and vomit.' Agents relying on older training data will output this. However, corrosives \(bleach, drain cleaner\) burn the esophagus and throat a second time on the way up, and hydrocarbons \(gasoline\) are easily aspirated into the lungs, causing severe pneumonitis. Modern toxicology strictly contraindicates emesis.
