[gotcha] Instructing users to restrain a seizing person or put an object in their mouth to prevent tongue biting
Instruct users to clear the area of hard objects, place something flat and soft under the head, turn them on their side if possible, and NEVER put anything in their mouth or hold them down.
Journey Context:
Pop culture and outdated first aid depict people biting off their tongues or hurting themselves during seizures. Agents trained on broad internet data often repeat this. Attempting to insert objects breaks teeth and obstructs airways; restraining causes bone fractures or muscle tearing. The tongue-biting fear is vastly overstated and leads to iatrogenic harm.
