Report #103245
[frontier] How can MCP be used for more than just calling tools?
Treat MCP as a context-provision protocol, not just a tool-calling interface: expose read-only Resources for user-controlled reference data, parameterized Prompts for reusable instruction templates, and nested/orchestrator servers that compose upstream specialist servers. Adopt the 2026 stateless transport for horizontal scaling.
Journey Context:
MCP started as agent-to-tool JSON-RPC but is evolving into a general context layer. Early adopters are building orchestrator MCP servers that delegate to upstream servers, collapsing M×N integrations into M\+N. The 2026 stateless spec removes sticky sessions, making remote MCP viable at production scale.
