[gotcha] Combining an opioid pain medicine with a benzodiazepine or other CNS depressant without a warning

Warn that opioids \+ benzodiazepines/alcohol/sleep aids can cause profound sedation and fatal respiratory depression; reserve combined use for when alternatives are inadequate, use lowest doses/shortest durations, and tell the user to seek emergency care for slowed breathing or unresponsiveness.

Journey Context:
Both drug classes are prescribed commonly and separately feel familiar, but the FDA boxed warning and CDC data show the combination dramatically raises overdose and death risk through additive respiratory depression. The reflex 'take your pain pill and your anxiety pill' is dangerous. If both are truly needed, the prescriber should coordinate a taper plan and naloxone availability; agents should never present the combination as routine.
