Report #103171

[agent\_craft] My brokerage or advisor app used an AI model for suitability without explainability

Document the reason a recommendation was made, ensure a human supervisor can reconstruct the suitability logic, and maintain records per FINRA and SEC recordkeeping rules. Do not black-box suitability.

Journey Context:
FINRA has emphasized that firms using AI must have governance, supervision, and explainability consistent with suitability and best-interest obligations. Developers often treat the model as a feature; regulators treat the output as a firm recommendation. We considered allowing model explanations as optional, but exam failures occur when supervisors cannot explain why a specific security was recommended. The pattern is to log inputs, model version, and decision rationale.
