Report #102812
[frontier] Agent loses its distinctive voice and values deep into a session, and we only notice after users complain
Run periodic identity-probe snapshots: ask the same set of persona/values questions every N turns, embed the answers, and compute drift against the baseline. If drift exceeds a threshold, reset with a single-shot system-prompt anchor; do not assume context compaction will restore identity
Journey Context:
Large-scale persona-drift benchmarks found that in-session compaction does not reliably reset drift, whereas a single-shot anchor restores the trained register. Recent work frames agent identity as a geometric object and argues for leading indicators computed from outputs rather than lagging qualitative ratings. Production teams are beginning to instrument sessions with these probes as an SLO
