Report #102688
[counterintuitive] Bigger models are inherently safer
Match model size to the risk surface, use specialized guard models for filtering, and validate safety with red-teaming; do not assume scale equals alignment.
Journey Context:
Capability and safety do not scale together monotonically. Larger models can be more susceptible to data poisoning and jailbreak-tuning, and raw parameter count says little about alignment. OWASP-aligned evaluations show that a 1B-parameter guard model can outperform much larger base models at threat detection. Safety is a systems property built from training, guardrails, monitoring, and layered defenses.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
