Report #102633
[research] Single-sample answers may contain invented claims that are inconsistent with other plausible completions
Generate multiple independent answers and check semantic consistency across them. Flag claims that appear only in one sample or conflict across samples for external verification, and omit unsupported claims.
Journey Context:
SelfCheckGPT \(Manakul et al., EMNLP 2023\) detects hallucinations in black-box models by sampling multiple responses and measuring inconsistency. It needs no external knowledge, so it is useful when retrieval is unavailable, though it is a heuristic and should be combined with source verification.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
