Report #102358

[synthesis] Users repeatedly fail at the boundary between easy and hard tasks because the AI's capability frontier is jagged and invisible

Map and communicate capability boundaries explicitly; constrain the default task space to the reliable region; use progressive disclosure to let users opt into higher-risk tasks with clear fallback.

Journey Context:
AI capabilities are not smoothly graded: a model may excel at one task and fail on a nearby variant. Users cannot see the boundary, so they probe it and hit surprising failures. Products that pretend to be general-purpose accumulate trust debt at the frontier. The fix is to make boundaries visible and design the UI so users stay mostly inside the reliable region.
