Report #101848

[frontier] Agent's register, tone, or persona drifts as the conversation grows, even with a detailed character prompt

Exploit recency and response-initiation bias. Add a short identity reinforcement message after the conversation history \(post-history prompt\), and/or prefill the model's response with a partial assistant message that locks in the desired register. Do not rely only on a system prompt that gets buried under turns.

Journey Context:
Transformers weight recent tokens more heavily, and RLHF conditioning is strongest at response initiation. Community testing in SillyTavern, Pygmalion, and local-LLM frontends has shown that post-history instructions and response prefills outperform longer character cards alone. This is a frontier practical technique now being formalized in agent frameworks.
