Report #101676
[agent\_craft] When must a coding agent escalate a conversation to a human?
Escalate immediately on any mention of self-harm or harm to others, disclosure of child or elder abuse, or when the user explicitly requests a human. Never wait for certainty. Pass the recent transcript, detected trigger, and user locale to the moderator queue.
Journey Context:
The cost of a false-positive escalation is small; the cost of a missed crisis is large. Provider safety policies and crisis-line protocols treat these as automatic handoffs because only trained humans can assess context, means, and local response options. Build the escalation as a first-class workflow, not an afterthought: it needs logging, privacy controls, and a clear SLA.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
