Report #101625
[research] Agent completes tasks but its behavioral fingerprint shifts silently after context compression or memory rotation
Track three signals across session boundaries: ghost lexicon decay \(domain vocabulary disappears\), tool-call sequence shift \(Jaccard distance spikes\), and semantic drift \(topic keyword overlap declines\). Alert when task-completion metrics stay green but these behavioral signals move.
Journey Context:
Session-boundary drift is distinct from loop detection because repetition is visible but drift is silent: the agent starts fresh after rotation, looks healthy, but responds differently to the same inputs. In multi-agent crews, one agent's silent drift propagates to others because they build on each other's outputs; lead-lag ordering of which agent drifts first can identify the root cause. Complement this with weekly model-fingerprint checks and embedding-centroid drift between production traffic and the pinned eval set.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
