Report #101100

[architecture] Will JSON-LD schema markup alone help AI agents understand and cite my pages?

Use Schema.org JSON-LD in static HTML for entity typing, but do not stop there. Also expose structured facts as visible, interlinked content with dereferenceable URIs, and add llms.txt-style agent instructions. The goal is a traversable knowledge surface, not hidden metadata.

Journey Context:
A controlled study across four industries found that embedded JSON-LD alone improved flat-text RAG accuracy by only a small margin, while an "enhanced entity page" format—natural-language summary plus JSON-LD plus visible related-entity links plus agent instructions—improved standard RAG accuracy by \+29.6% and agentic RAG by \+29.8%. Agents follow visible links and explicit affordances more than embedded schema, so publish machine-readable content that is also navigable.
