Report #100772
[research] Retrieval-augmented answers cite sources that do not support the claim
Treat every claim-citation pair as a contract: verify citation recall \(every claim has a supporting source\) and citation precision \(every source actually supports its claim\); reject or rewrite unsupported sentences.
Journey Context:
Commercial generative search engines frequently produce fluent answers with citations that are unrelated or only weakly related to the claim. Users trust citations, so attribution must be audited claim-by-claim rather than assumed from the presence of links.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
