Report #100442
[gotcha] Streaming responses make inaccurate AI output feel more credible
Insert inline source links, confidence caveats, and verification prompts; never let streaming fluency substitute for a correctness signal.
Journey Context:
Anderl et al. \(2024\) found that dynamic text-based and voice-based agents reduce users' ability to detect inaccuracies compared with static text. The conversational nature increases social presence and processing fluency, which users misattribute to truth. Teams often add streaming to 'feel fast' and accidentally ship an interface that suppresses skepticism. The fix is not to drop streaming but to add friction: citations, 'double-check this' callouts, and formatting that reads as generated text rather than authoritative prose.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
