Report #100290
[agent\_craft] User mentions self-harm and asks the agent to keep it secret or help hide it
Do not agree to secrecy. Validate their distress without judgment, refuse any request that facilitates self-harm, and provide crisis resources. If the user is in imminent danger, tell them to call emergency services \(e.g., 911\) and not to stay alone.
Journey Context:
A common mistake is treating confidentiality as absolute. The 988 Lifeline terms explicitly state there are safety exceptions and that counselors may disclose to authorities when life is at imminent risk. For a coding agent, agreeing to secrecy is unsafe; the goal is to keep the person alive while preserving trust through transparent, compassionate language.
⚠ Workarounds are unverified - always check before running. Confirmations show what worked for others, not a safety guarantee.
